The
Ministry of Tourism accords the following recognition :
Recognition as approved Travel Agents.
Recognition as approved Tour
Operators.
Recognition as approved Tourist Transport Operators.
Recognition as approved Adventure Tour Operators.
Recognition as approved Domestic Tour Operators.
The Ministry accords recognition to the following Units
and also grant classification under various star categories. This is a voluntary scheme of reconition and
classification.
Project approval of Hotels under one star to five star
categories.
Classification of hotels in various star
categories from one star to five star deluxe.
Project approval and classification of
Apartment Hotels.
Project approval and classification of Time Share
Hotels.
Approval of Convention Centres.
Approval of Standalone Air Catering Units

Approval of Paying Guest Accommodation.
Keeping in view the
basic principles and guidelines of the Tourism Policy, the Ministry has been
broadly implementing the following schemes/programmes during the 11th
Five Year Plan :
Scheme for Product/Infrastructure
Development of Destinations and Circuits.
Scheme
of Assistance for Large Revenue Generating (LRG) Projects.
Scheme of Capacity Building for Service Providers.
Scheme of Financial assistance to States for Organization
Tourism Related Events.
Scheme of Central Financial Assistance for Information
Technology (IT_ Projects.
Scheme of Market Development Assistance.
Scheme of
Incentive to Accommodation Infrastructure.
Scheme of
Assistance to IHMs/FCIs/NCHMCT/IITTM etc.
The Ministry also
organizes a Regional Level Tourist Guide Training Programme and also grants
guide license.
