Roles and Functions of VIGILANCE DIVISION


Vigilance set up in this Ministry is headed by a Joint Secretary level officer, who acts as part time Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the Ministry. The Chief Vigilance Officer in Ministry is assisted by a Director, Under Secretary, Assistant Director and other supporting staff. The Vigilance Cell is primarily responsible for registration & examination of complaints and submitting the report on the same to CVC. Initiating Disciplinary proceedings against the erring officials and regular monitoring of pending cases comes under the ambit of work of Vigilance Division. In addition to this, it also deals with the matters related to maintenance of Annual Property Returns, Annual Performance Appraisal Reports, etc. of officials posted in Ministry, coordinating the vigilance activities, including the ‘probity’ related issues and submitting quarterly and annual performance report on Vigilance to CVC via their portal on regular basis. Vigilance Division is, further, responsible for ensuring observance of Vigilance Awareness Week in Ministry, its attached offices/subordinate offices. PSUs every year in the month of Oct-Nov in accordance with the directives of CVC.
